HOLIDAYS ON THE ISLAND OF ELBA

A LITTLE VILLAGE IN A NATURAL SETTING

The complex is situated on the charming bay of Ortano, part of the Tuscan Archipelago Natural Park, and a wonderful combination of sea and natural beauty. Surrounded by the lush foliage of its large, carefully-tended gardens, the village faces onto a cove with private beach. It comprises a central two-storey building with hotel rooms and some of the main amenities, and apartments arranged in cottages and larger blocks. The Village is self-sufficient in services, and also offers many facilities for leisure, sport and entertainment.

Excursions*

The Village organises weekly excursions* to some of the most attractive places both inland and around the coast. They give you a chance to explore the natural beauty, history and traditions of the island.

THE BEAUTIFUL RIO MARINA

Beautiful town overlooking the sea. The mines and the port were used for the excavation and transport of iron ore, which still today, with its glitter and reddish color, characterizes the whole country, from the walls of the houses to the golden beaches. Do not miss a visit to “Torrione del Porto” and the Mining Park where you can admire about 1000 samples of minerals and stones of the island and visit the old mines outdoors.

CAPOLIVERI AND PORTO AZZURRO

Capoliveri is a small town with the typical shape of a Medieval village with narrow and picturesque arched alleys, which hide small craft shops and typical restaurants. Portoazzurro is a characteristic fishing village surrounded by golden beaches. Not to be missed is the Laghetto di Terranera, originating from the old mining operations and immersed in a suggestive natural context with strong colour contrasts.

PORTOFERRAIO

Ideal destination for those seeking sea, history and culture with its historic streets and walls. Do not miss its typical white beaches that are among the most beautiful on Isola d’Elba: Le Ghiaie, Sansone, Capo Bianco and the Source.

NAPOLEONIC RESIDENCE

In Portoferraio there is the Villa dei Mulini which dominates the historical centre with its size. This was the place where Napoleon public life took place. Just outside Portoferraio, the Emperor’s favourite luxury villa, Villa S. Martino. The most prominent room is the “Egyptian” one, decorated with an octagonal basin right in the centre, then pyramids, statues, a zodiac and scenes that represent the all the glories of Napoleon.
